So do you have one of these? If you don't even know what "one of these" is you can find out here. But anyways, After digging in the bottom of my craft drawer and dusting mine off, I found a new use for it...
Remember my hutch project? And then the question of how to remove this certain decorative piece? Well, thanks to my heat gun, the medallion came off clean as a whistle. And I highly recommend using a one year old's chubby finger for help too. (Don't worry, Mom, the heat was turned off for photo opportunity purposes.)
Good old Floyd at the woodworking shop helped encourage me by saying if the glue is really old (which it was), then it should come off very easily with heat. Thanks for everyone's great advice on how to tackle this. I was wonderfully surprised that is was just that easy. (And do you not see the knuckle power in this picture? You totally don't want to get a fist full of that, I tell ya!)
...and then I spent the rest of my day sanding and priming the hutch... moving a long, yes I'm moving along!

Do you have little helpers?
It looks like it's coming along!
Heat that was all? Well heat, a chubby finger, and knuckle power. Impressive!
Yeah! Good job.
What a great tool. Can't wait to see the finished project.
yes carolyn your knuckles are very intimidating. Remember how you used to punch me and then immediately run into the other room as fast as you could? I'm just saying...
Now, aren't you the clever child. Take after your grandmother Bunny.
Dad
This has nothing to do with lift off....I love the new top, banner thingy, and color.
OOOOHH, I LOVE the blog makeover!! Very chic!
you are so smart....i am glad you found an easy way to get the emblem off. and I agree....your blog looks so cool.
That's very interesting and good to know. Can you use a hair blowdryer or does it have to be an embosser?
An embossing heat gun gets extremely hot because it is meant to melt powder. I guess if the blow dryer can get hot enough it would work too.
