What could possibly be underneath this dish towel?
It would be green play dough. I wish I would have taken a picture of the mound before I picked off what I could. My (usually not so good) cleaning instincts told me to put baking soda on it and let it sit for a while.
This is after the vacuuming. Any suggestions? Lucky for me I like green & St. Patrick's Day is coming up... and we are going to be installing wood floors!...(someday)...

Did you try Resolve Spray ? I don't know if it works for playdough ? But anyway I hope you get it out.
Carpet cleaner solutions usually do the trick. I have had this happen more than once, play dough is POPULAR around here!
I have the same dish towels hanging in my kitchen right now, kind of funny- same color : )
If all else fails...you can swap that square of carpet for one form a closet. We have done that.
Did I ever tell you about the time my dogs tipped over a bucket of bleach water in my living room? My solution was to bleach the whole room with a steam cleaner, but my husband stopped me. It is amazing we are still married...and that we still have those dogs!
oh, mercy mercy me. that's the worst.
but in other news. your new banner is AWESOME!
This is a good thing. Yes, this too happened to me but with vibrant pink chocolate from the baby shower. I too like the color of the stain. Since then the hunt to find the right flooring we were going to install there "someday" has increased. Now, the new flooring will be here sooner than I thought. Yippee! Horray!
I like some stuff called Spot Shock.....I would think the sooner you work on it the better, though.
That is the worst! I know the feeling! My kids got moon sand every where in my house and it took forever to get out.. [days of vaccuming]
On green play dough??? I'm sorry I don't know.. I use oxi clean so give that a try!
Good Luck:)
You can heat up any kind of liquid carpet cleaner and it works better. Then just rinse it with really hot water and vaccum it up with a shop vac if you have one. Then just keep rinsing with hot water amd vaccuming up
woah...i vote for hannah's trick. it sounds really smart.
Folex is AMAZING! You can get it at WalMart.
My instincts say that if it's actually playdough on the carpet (as opposed to green color transferred to the carpet), then you should let it dry out & scrape it loose (knife? toothbrush? scotchbrite pad?) and vaccuum it up. It seems if you get the playdough wet, it will just be doughy again.
Or you could not try very hard to get the playdough out and the stain might be an incentive to get the wood in...
I say, who cares? You are replacing it anyways. Schedule a party or something and then that will give you the incentive to have the new floors in by that time...make it realistic though, maybe a nice St. Patrick's day party for your Southern friends. Maybe a Mardi Gras party? Is that in February? Anyways, have fun with it. This is your party happy friend Jen.
i like the new heading to your blog. and sorry about the playdoh...
Do we get an update on the lovely green? I hope you were able to get it out, if not, I hope you get your new floors that you want!
I love your wedding photo that you have up, how fun is that!! ; )
Oh GEEZE! Just the other Day Parker was playing with play dough. I stepped in it, got tracks of bright pink all over. Luckily they were small traks and I could scratch them out after it dried. So I really have no solution for such a big spot. I've now bough some play foam, Parker Loves that stuff. Try it, it dosn't dry and there is no mess.
I looked in ask.com. I typed in "how to remove carpet stains." I found several ideas. One I thought was helpful was at http://www.a2zcarpet.com/stain.htm
Check them out.
Dad
Sweets, Ummmm, what happened to the font? Did I catch you at a bad time? Are you under construction here?
I liked the pale yellow and the yummy warm flowered banner.
Don't get me wrong,I love this too! Maybe some font adjusting though ; )
All sorts of construction on your blog. I like the new banner again! I am going to try to talk you and Cathy into doing one for me.
