Dorothy's Calling

I was sitting on the living room floor, playing with the girls, when I stopped to listen. I heard something. I knew what it was but I went to the back door to and opened it. I needed a better listen. The rain was coming down and the wind was picking up. It was what I thought... I heard the tornado sirens! The girls sensed my alertness and they became anxious.

EDEN: "What is it Mom?"
ME: "Listen Eden, do you hear that sound?"
EDEN: "Yeah. I think it's an Angle's cell phone ringing."

I informed her she was probably right. I then turned on the local news channel. It was fuzzy but the reporter was telling me of tornado warnings. "The tornado will be passing through Bartlett at 4:40pm". Then the cable went out. Oh.

Bartlett is where I live and it's 4:35pm! I gathered the girls up and proceeded with our game at the safest spot in the house during a tornado... the bathtub. I acted like it was a great new game, but the whole time I had one eye on the window. The lights flickered, the rain poured and the wind raced. It was loud. Then it was done.

All is well with us. No damage here. The tornado did do some damage only 5 miles down the street... at the very location I spent the whole beginning of the day. Phew!

Oh, I'm glad you guys are ok. It's weird how many times we had to listen to the sirens this year, too. Crazy...
