I Ran & Ran & Ran & Ran

I accomplished one of my biggest goals this past weekend...
Ran 13.1 miles! I did it!!! I ran in the Nashville Music City Marathon!
My girlfriends and I made a weekend out of it. It was so fun enjoying some alone time with these other mommas! I can't believe we all survived... well barely.
Here we are on the shuttle to the starting line - taken with my camera phone:
Me, Hallie, Pam, & Marlena

All smiles before the race. Yes, I do wear that visor, yes I do look like a dork, and yes I own another in white!

So we heard this course was hilly, but I underestimated what that really meant! I learned that hilly means pretty much ALL up hill, or at least the first 8 miles of it. Those hills wouldn't have been so brutal if it hadn't been for the unseasonable heat!!! The temps were 20 degrees higher then the average estimated. Talk about heat exhaustion. People seemed to be dropping every few miles, but maybe that's what all marathons look like... I wouldn't know this was my first - but not my last!

A highlight for me was how proud and excited Eden was to see my medal (everyone gets one for running). Today at the store Eden informed the cashier...
"My mom ran a race lasterday! She won and got a medal!"
I proudly nodded and said, "she's right!"

Great job! My friends and I have decided to incorporate speed training on Mondays....do you do any speed work? Do you have a good playlist to run to? I have been working on putting one together, but can't decide what songs I really want to run to! St. George marathon here you come!

That's quite an achievement! Now you can run the St. George marathon, piece of cake, right? So I had a crazy dream about you. You were showing off your hot marathon body by wearing a deep v-neck all the way to your belly button. Please tell me I'm not psychic.

Hey! What a perfectly splendid person you are.

How come I couldn't find you by name in the "results" section of the Nashville Music City Marathon? What is your Bib number? Daddy O

Way to go!! You are an inspiration to us all! How fun to spend time with the gals, do something you enjoy and feel like you've accomplished something. Very cool that Eden was announcing to all - they will remember what you're doing. You're a great example to them.

Wow, you're amazing! I was in Nashville a year ago for my grandmother's 90th birthday. I wish I could go back!

Eight miles uphill? That is totally brutal! You must be in such good shape. We were in Las Vegas last week, and I got my bum kicked by the hills in my parents neighborhood, which I only had to deal with for about 1/2 of my 3-mile run!
