Our Weekend

The Event: La Boneur Annual 5K Pumpkin Run

Contestant #1: 2nd from the left, Miss Sweat Alot
(and a shout out to my girl Marlena on the left and my "running coach" Katie in the black next to me)

Training: 6 Days a week of circuit and cardio, strict diet of nothing yummy, fights to get at least 6 hrs of sleep a night.

Contestant #2: Mr. Happy Go Lucky - Never Ran a 5K Before - Looks Good Doin' It - Didn't Even Have to Shower Afterwards - Happy To Get 5 Hours of Sleep a Night!

Training: The occasional Friday night indoor soccer game, eat what ever he wants every two hours and right before bed, just fine with 5 hrs of sleep or less.

Conversation between contestant #1 and contestant #2...

#2: So are you so excited for the 5K?
#1: I guess. You know you better not pass me and finish before me, right? Strollers do have to start in the very back, so I'll be starting up front with out you.
#2: Uh? Yeah, okay. Hey I better make sure the tires are pumped up in the double jogging stroller.

Photo taken of Contestant #1 by Contestant #2, camera in one hand, pushing double jogging stroller in other. Oh, and it's up hill.

Photo taken by same Contestant #2, now passing Contestant #1 with camera in one hand, pushing double jogging stroller in the other, running backwards to get the shot, and it's still all uphill.
"I know, I know, that was torture. At least he waited for me to cross the finish line together."

Eden and Amzie had some fun times afterwards.

The girls had their faces painted.

Then they painted "pumpkins"

And Eden's favorite part was being left in a cage by herself. No, seriously... I don't think you can see it in the picture, but she really is smiling. She could have stayed there all day.

FIRST COMMENT!

Way to go! I am really impressed that you did a 5K. I would love to do something like that , but running and I don't get along.

Carolyn!!
Way to go, you ran the 5k? I did a 5k on Sat too, but I walked ;) Your awesome.

Yay for you! It totally stinks that men can do that.

I haven't ran much since my 5k last month. Now that it gets dark early, I decided to run during the day with the stroller but then killed my back doing it. Ugh.

Wahooo for you! I am so impressed that you did that! I admire runners greatly, but hate to do it myself. Way to be awesome and inspirational!

YEAH for Carolyn! May I add that you looked rather fashionable while running yourself. Good for you!

So impressive and nice job! And give a shout out to Marlena, and OK, to Aaron too. Great pictures---looks like a lot of fun. How are you feeling today, though?

If anyone wants to know, Carolyn was not sore at all, but I was sore all over. Including weird shoulder muscles I apparently only use to push strollers.

Great job Carolyn and Aaron. That would be so fun to do a 5k with the whole family. I'm looking forward to trying out a first annual Waite turkey trot in Vegas this year. Are you guys in? Are you even coming home this year? Let me know. Also, Carolyn you are looking hot, mama.

GREAT JOB Carolyn!!! Why is it so much easier for our husbands than for us woman to run. Jeremy is the exact same way as Aaron. No training, no sleep and they can run all they want with no sweat! And we have to work and sleep so hard. It just baffles me! Way to go!

Oh my heck! I love this post! I'm so dang proud of you. Keep up the great work. I know you can conquer whatever you set out to do...you always do (supergirl).

Love ya,
Jme

ps. Poo-poo on the non-worker-outer Aaron. People like that aren't normal. I'm married to one, so I can attest to the not normal part :)

Oh my gosh Carolyn, that is JUST like me and Ramir. What's the deal with men like that? I have a friend whose brother ran a MARATHON without training. And got a good time! SO wrong...

Isn't that just the way it is?! Stinks....so similar in our house...I am the one that gets beat red and starts sweating after like 5 minutes of elevated heart rate! Congrats on a great job! So very impressed!

You go girl!! I'm jealous. I wish I could run. Aaron told me about it. He is too funny. I'm sure he was doing the chicken dance while he was running and taking the picture.

Great job! Love the play-by-play analysis. Nice to have all that fun stuff for the kids afterwards too. What an accomplishment for the whole family!
