Here's the Chicks

Our three chickens are starting to lose their cuteness. They now do that weird jerky chicken twitch and pecking. What was I expecting, right? No, we don't normally have them roaming around our floor. They stay in their little plastic bin which these chicks are quickly out growing. We have yet to find out if they are boys (roosters) or girls (hens). If one of them or more turns out to be a rooster, we will give it back to our friend we rescued them from. I hope they are all hens and give us lots of eggs in the months to come. What are their names you ask... The black one is Henrietta. The darker of the other two (far right) is Roundy Racer or Racer for short. The last one is nameless still. The name just hasn't come to us yet. Kind of like that Nackos baby!? Did I just compare naming my chicken to that sweet baby? It's not the same.

How about Petunia?

Do you have a pen outside in your backyard for these chicks? My friend has lots of chickens and therefore lots of eggs. But she lives on 50 acres. I'm not good at naming pets.

I used to raise chicks. My dad would order them from the mail. A box of "biddies" would come, all just one day old. We'd take them out and put them in little cages with a warm light to keep them snuggly. we'd feed them "mash," which was a ground up grain of some sort. Trouble is . . . they all grew up to be ugly old hens. We had many of them for dinner.
