Whose Child Is She?

Eden was in such a funny mood today. She woke up to change right into her dancing dress up clothes.

It was like pulling teeth getting her into something presentable so we could head out for our morning routine. But as soon as we got home, the fancy duds were quickly put back on.

Well late in the afternoon I told her she needed to change back into her play-clothes because we needed to run a few more errands.

5 minutes go by and I'm reminding her again.

This goes on a few more times when I finally put her in her room, lay play-clothes out for her, and tell her not to come out until she is dressed and ready to go.

More time passes. I go to check on her. The clothes I lied out for her are now thrown across the room. Eden is standing on top of a mat, nothing on, rubbing her underarm.

Me: "Eden! What is going on? Get your clothes on!"
Eden: "Mom! You are just going to have to wait. I'm taking a shower and I'm not done yet."

She then mimics turning off the water, squeezing out her hair, and opening the door to step out. That's when I notice a blanket draped over the bed. She pulls it off and uses it to towel herself with.

I Sigh

Eden: "Mom, you may lay may clothes out again for me so I can get dressed now."
Me: "Nope, you can lay them out yourself this time. My patience are now depleted. I guess you will have to stay in here with the door closed (she hates this) until you are dressed and ready to obey your mom."

Screaming, Crying, Whaling, Kicking... the drama explodes into full force.

30 minutes pass with this commotion. Then

SILENCE

I peek in and find her, snoring, asleep on her bed.

Clothes on the floor. You can guess what she had on under her blanket. Needless to say, I didn't get much done with my errands!

I caught her looking in the mirror dressed like this. She had one hand on her hip, the other up on her head. (Super model style) She was bouncing her hip and saying, "Cha cha cha"

I remember a little girl much like Eden. But, seldom did she "talk back." She was very obedient. She almost never played "dress up," and if she did, she always asked permission first. She got her pretty eyes at WalMart.

Yes... raising girls is much different than raising boys. Case in point.

She is a crack up!

the battle over getting dressed is a familiar one in my house, but for some reason i find your experience much funnier than i find my own. :) putting henry in his room and shutting the door is like death to his soul. do you think it's they can't stand to miss out on anything?

What a funny girl!

I just grab James and force-dress him. Is that wrong?

That girl has got some sass! She totally fits in with both sides of her family. Love it.

Precious! She can come hang with this crew anytime.

My boys were divas too. I just took them out as they were and explained to everyone we met that I wasn't very good at this, so please forgive my children.

You are wonderful!

I think that it is so funny that she is taking a nap naked. Gavin will do anything he can to prolong being naked.

I love the last picture and the fact that she kept saying Cha cha cha.
