The Friday Afternoon Miracle

It was one of those really long days that never would end. Husband? Dad? We could hardly remember him with all his work at the hospital, being on call, and studying for the boards next week.I was in the kitchen thinking if I really wanted to make a dinner for us girls or just do pizza, when this little 15 month old monkey came waddling in. She looked up at me and signed "potty".
Actually she has done this before and it means, "Mom, come change my diaper!" But this time...
...she led me into the bathroom and proceeded to climb up onto the potty! Well alright then. And yes it actually happened! She smiled at me, grunted, and the miracle was done, right then and there! We danced around the house celebrating.

But I know better than to get my hopes up. If there is one thing I learned with the older sister, it is to just wait until they practically train themselves! So even if it isn't for another couple years, it was still nice to have one less smelly diaper to deal with on that long rainy afternoon.

I can't wait for this stupid test to be over!! It seems there is always something taking up their time!! Whoever heard of a husband with an 8 to 5!

Wow! That's amazing! That's smart not to get your hopes up, but you never know!

Hey, guess what? I'm in Nashville right now! If I were going to be here longer, I would try to come and see you! The kids and I flew in for my grandmother's 90th birthday.

Yay! Everyone needs a bright spot in every day. And who knows, maybe it wasn't a one time miracle?

That is so cool. So is the next miracle going to be full potty training? I think Ava is amazing and super smart just like her parents.

Hi Carolyn - I'm Lyndsey's mom - I was checking out her blog and accidently clicked on your link but I'm so glad I did! Your daughter is beautiful and I love the tip about coffee grounds! Since I live in Seattle I'm surrounded by Starbucks! Maybe this is the "missing link" I need to grow ANYTHING! Nan

I can't believe Ava did that! Angelina is finally potty trained now. It has taken us awhile. I bet Ava will learn earlier than Eden because she has a bigger sister to follow. Ava looks so much like Aaron when he was a baby. She is so cute! I love the tongue sticking out.

Oh she did not do that! She is one smart cookie. I would peruse her. Can I smooch her cheeks??

Hi I too am glad to hear from you. I unfortunately I don't have a great handle on Uncle Nolan's kids. I know that Nolan and Beth moved to Lehi in a condo. But we are a pathetic bunch aren't we? I heard that Alyssa just had a baby boy. A whooper of a baby boy. Over 9 pounds. She sent an announcement. A real cutie. I would imagine that Jill told you that Sarah also has a blog. Her address is alittleoutnumbered at blogspot. I will need to check out your parents. Rob watches it all the time. Love ya!

Hey Carolyn-
It's me Shayna...Aaron's cousin. I have been known to stalk your blog and I love it! It's so nice to know how you are doing. Your girls are adorable. It sounds like you all are doing so good. Anyway, thanks for this link about baby sign language. Go Ava for using the potty. My second child, Dax, is the same age as Ava and we've been working on sign language too. Thanks so much for the inspiration. We will most definately be starting to learn the change or potty sign! Hope you are enjoying your 2 week break. Please take a visit to my blog...love to have you! Take care!
