Is There A Doctor in the House?

Heather asked: Did you ever wish that Aaron would become an OB/GYN?

Harper (doesn't she have a cool name?) asked: I want to know if you are as ready for our husbands to be through with residency as I am?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. I'm laughing because can you even imagine Aaron being an OB/GYN and dealing with women and women's health problems day in and day out? Nope, Heather, it must take a sincerely talented man to go into that specialty (like Heather's husband!). Aaron is definitely an eyeball surgeon type of guy. He loves those fine minuscule details.

'Big sigh', yes, Harper. Some days it is so hard to see the light at the end of that tunnel after so many years...

4years of undergrad
+ (1 year of applying to med school)
+ 4 years of medical school
+ 1 year of internship
+ almost 7months out of the 3 years of residency
+ 1 more year of a fellowship
That adds up to = 13yrs of school/training!

Good thing they like it right? I think it takes a strange person to put themselves through this and maybe even a stranger of a person to marry them! Swimming in debt is overwhelming and it is hard for me to imagine being able to pay all of that $xxx, xxx back... & still have enough to live off of. My head hurts now. I need to go day dream of the days to come, like relaxing in the spa, and then off to go shopping at the mall...
Here we are with Aaron's parents, just starting medical school. We were so happy to be accepted into the University of Utah... it was only a 6 hour drive from home!
Aaron's good looks during the "White Coat Ceremony" got him into the newspaper. Hey, and is that front page?!
Here he is celebrating with a store bought cake. He had passed The Boards!
This is Match Day! Meaning this is the day all the medical students across the US open their little white envelope and find out where they have been accepted and will be moving for their residency training. Memphis TN!
Graduation Day! My friend Amy got together miniature graduation gowns for the kiddos! Eden was so adorable.
Here is Aaron, the full blown, under paid resident doctor. Gross, huh?

Yes,he is a very patient and talented person that's why I love him so much! On the flip side of things well, it could take me all day to explain but, to sum it up.... being pregnant and being married to an OB/GYN at the same time doesn't work very well!!!!! Nate said I was driving him nuts the whole 9 months with TOO many CrAzY questions!!! :)
O.K. so when you did the break down on how long it has taken us to get here and how much further we hav't to go... I want to cry:)
It will all be worth it at the end that's what every one keeps telling
me! I miss the class of 06' such fun memories!
p.s. what makes it all worth it is seeing the picture of Aaron so happy and you know they love what they do!
p.p.s. Nate does come home happy every night even after seeing all of those hormonal woman!! :) lol

Carolyn, these Q&A sessions have been fun to read about.

It doesn't take a strange person to marry a medical student, just a very supportive one. Aaron's a lucky man to have such a fabulous wife! (Must run in the family....)

SO what is Aaron working on in that last picture? I love all the pictures. From the sidelines though, it seems like he has speedily gone through school. To you it must be like pregnancy, goes by fast yet seems like it is never ending.

Well put Marleen!

The only person nicer than Dr. Aaron is the sweetie he married.

Awww, that was so sweet Grandpa O!

I love all the photos! My sister-inlaw, Mandy and her hubby Mark, have been on the same path as you and Aaron. Mark is in his 2nd year of residency. My other sister-inlaw, Emily lives in Murfreesboro, TN. I had been wondering where you lived in TN. Her Jared, he is the regional coordinator for the CES program ( Institute, Seminary, etc.), for the TN region.
Neat stuff huh?!

You have been such a patient person with all this schooling, but you will reap the rewards. Did you tell us what Aaron is working on in the last picture?
