Honeymoon Dreamin'

Our Honeymoon to Belize was an adventure I wish we could relive again.

We traveled to Placencia, Belize in a tiny airplane landing on a dirt runway.

Our cabana wasn't A/C'd, had lizard poo on the bed and no locks on the doors. But it was right on the beach. We could hear and smell the ocean. So romantic.

On one side of us was the jungle. Amazing to explore. We actually went, with a native, hiking to find howler monkeys. We found them. Those monkeys started howling louder than anything I had heard. We were told they can be heard for miles. I figured they didn't think it was very "romantic" of us to be there when they started throwing nuts on our heads.

The opening of this cave is twice the size of the picture below. Can you see Aaron standing on the side? The water was too high - otherwise we could have waded inside. Maybe next time.

We did tons of snorkeling. We'd even snorkel clear around a tiny island, eat lunch and then do it again. Aaron smuggled ocean rock back home with us (quite the ordeal), but we still have it today, growing in our reef tank.

Other days we would walk into town and visit the native Garifunas.
Oh, what memories...

Belize is now becoming such a tourist spot now. I'm always hearing people going there on vacation. You guys went when it was still undiscovered.

I know, even the online site pictures of the place where we stayed looks so different now!
